Chipude...

Chipude was a word in the Guanche language whose meaning, according to the Portuguese chronicler Gaspar Fructuoso (1590), is "land of palms". In many maps and population censuses it appears with the denomination of Temocoda, also a word in guanche , but that would only refer to a specific area of Chipude. Next to Chipude is El Cercado, an area of important pottery tradition where pre-colonial techniques of ceramic elaboration survive.
